Ambitious – Jules always strived for the stars, before he was a vindicator and even more afterwards. He wants to see the cultists fall and the world at peace. Conflict is always a sad thing.

Determined + Stubborn – If he’s given a task he won’t quit. Partly due to wanting to succeed and bring positive results and partly because he won’t accept defeat. Why give up when you can keep trying.

Open-minded – Aside from Cultists, Jules feels everyone should get along. They’re all in the world together and he certainly wont turn away someone for being different.

Reliable – He always shows up when he’s needed and does his best to succeed expectations. He doesn’t want to complete something to mediocre basic standards, so he is somewhat of a perfectionist when it comes to tasks, but he gets them done.

Pragmatic – Jules isn’t a coward to say, but he wont fight anyone unless his life or someone he’s protecting is in danger. Of course, that includes the Vindicators, but he’s usually out wandering so generally in ends up being his own life he’s concerned about.

Distant – Part of a ruse he’s gotten too used to. Jules was taught to never let his emotions get the better of him, or show up when in tight situations, he’s taken it to the extreme and now he just looks unamused or like hes not listening. Don’t worry, he is, one ear always turned towards the juicy stories, but he also keeps the persona of disinterest and calmness even when around friends. Its rare to see this mule get excited.

Immature – While he does his best at being an adult, Jules is still young and full of that youthful mischief. He occasionally will make off jokes and remarks, some pretty rude, but he doesn’t mean any harm, he just needs a zipper for his mouth.

Insecure – He worries that he’s not doing enough for the Vindicators, just a pawn in the game. He’s just a young mule running around pretending to be tough and successful, but is he really?

History:

[Early Life]

Jules initially was born in Serora with his mother Katarina, a mare known to raise rather extravagant chickens in her family group. The herd was comprised primarily of nomadic herders, a group of Folk who traveled the lands, giving old camping groups chance to rest and following their goats and livestock. In total her herd was comprised of ten families, her own being the smallest, but it bothered her none. During one such travel to the northern mountains, away from the heat, she met Jules father, a common donkey and a traveling merchant. Their meeting was brief but the two became near inseparable, when Jules father managed to tear himself away, he’d only stayed away for a mere few months before he found himself back with Katarina. The two were encouraged and supported by the herd and after spending another season together they decided to wed. Their marriage was one of love even if the two weren’t of the same species of equine, they wished for a child and soon Katarina bore her first and only son, Jules.

[Youth]

Jules was an energetic and stubborn foal, gaining the strength and resilience of his father and the intellect and grace of his mother, the herd taught him how to raise animals, and even dabble in crop planting, and his mother taught him what she knew of her flock of chickens. He remained with them until the age of twelve when mercenaries hired from Aodh picked them and some of their herd up on the coasts near Osulas, intending to transport the lot of them as exotic slaves to Valore, but ensuring the naïve horses that they were just helping them along the coast towards the Valley of Melodies. They were unknowing of the ill intent until the ship had moved far from the safety of shores and traveled a day’s passage south, the hirelings then began to subdue their captives, killing those who would not cooperate. The majority of his Seroran herd thought it best not to fight back just yet, plotting their ways to escape, but their plans were not needed as the ship was intercepted before it could reach near Sterling by a group of Vagabonds. In panic, the hirelings wanted to leave no witnesses to their deeds and intended to flee the Vagabonds, grabbing what few horses they could from their main vessel and spiriting them away on other vessels of their fleet. While they escaped with some, most of their captives where set free.  Jules was awed by them, requesting from his parents that he leave to help their cause, the two were hesitant but eventually agreed if it was for a worthy cause, and thus Jules enlisted with his Vagabond saviors, promising to keep in touch with his family in Serora.

[Young Adulthood]

The young mule then spent the next several years, until he reached the age of 17, apprenticing and learning their ways as a Cadet and eventually a Soldier. The longer he spent with the Vagabonds the more they realized he would be a better Specialist than a Jack of All, so he was shortly promoted.  His unassuming nature and carefree attitude made him a good informant, and his expertise in common labor and jobs meant he could blend in as a civilian. Most often he preferred to farm lands set up by the Vagabond contacts and seek out slave caravans and slavers before they managed to capture their targets. He hopes to save as many lives as possible this way and currently endeavors to preserve the sanctity of family and bonds, not allowing them to be broken by the corruption and depravity of slavery.
